When a garment factory needs a fabric stock clearance
Clearing fabric stock is different from selling a few leftover rolls. It is when the owner decides to dispose of most or all of the warehouse within a short time. The situations we see most often:
- The factory lease is ending, the premises must be handed back on time and nobody wants to pay to truck the fabric to a new site.
- A change of product line: from T-shirts to workwear, from export contract manufacturing to the domestic market, and the old fabric no longer fits.
- Downsizing or closing production, with stock that has to be turned into cash to settle debts and pay workers.
- An overloaded warehouse before peak season, with no room for new materials.
- A fabric shop closing down or transferring its premises.
What these cases share is time pressure. Someone with surplus fabric to sell urgently has no time to advertise roll by roll and wait for buyers to come and pick through it. They need a clearance buyer who can look at everything, make one offer and empty the warehouse quickly.
What Gia Bao buys as a complete lot
When we clear a garment factory warehouse, we do not only buy fabric rolls. A factory store usually holds a bit of everything, and you will want it all gone at once:
- Sealed fabric rolls, partly cut rolls and roll ends.
- Fabric remnants, short lengths, sample fabric and bagged fabric scraps.
- Defective fabric, out-of-season fabric and returned goods.
- Leftover trims: sewing thread, buttons, zippers, elastic, labels. Details on our garment accessories buying page.
- Cut panels and unfinished garments (assessed lot by lot).

Two ways to price a clearance: whole lot or by group
One price for the whole lot
Best when you need speed and do not want to spend time sorting. We inspect the entire warehouse, estimate the volume of each type of goods and give one figure for everything. The upside: a fast deal, fast removal, nothing left behind. The trade-off is that the price balances good stock against poorer stock.
Buying by product group
Best when a large share of the stock is good fabric and you still have a few days. We split the warehouse into groups such as full rolls, cut rolls, remnants, scraps and trims; each group is weighed or measured and priced separately. The total is usually a little higher, but it takes more time.
General factors that affect the clearance price
- The share of full rolls compared with remnants and scraps.
- The main fabric types and how popular the colours are.
- Storage condition: a dry store with racks, or fabric piled on a damp floor.
- The deadline: the more urgent, the more people and trucks we need to bring in.
- Warehouse location: whether a truck can reach the door or goods must be shuttled.
Clearing a fabric warehouse in one to three days
- Contact us and send photos: call or message Zalo on 0904 623 046 with a few overview shots of the warehouse and close-ups of some product groups. Tell us your deadline right away. You can message us on Zalo in English and we will reply.
- On-site survey: for large warehouses we come and look in person before quoting, because photos rarely show the full volume.
- Agree on the plan: whole lot or by group, how goods are weighed or measured, and a loading schedule in stages if the warehouse is very large.
- Payment and removal: payment per truckload or in one sum, as agreed. The Gia Bao crew does all the loading and hauling.
The steps are described in more detail on our buying process page.

What to prepare before calling for a clearance
- Make a rough list: no detail needed, just an estimate of how many rolls, how many bags and the main fabric types.
- Clear a path for the truck: open the route from the warehouse door to where the truck parks and loading time drops considerably.
- Set aside anything you want to keep: machinery, fabric for orders still running, so nothing is loaded by mistake.
- Call early: giving us a few days' notice before your handover date is always better than calling at the last minute.
