Frequently asked questions

What factory and shop owners usually ask before selling surplus fabric. If you can't find your answer, just call us.

General questions

What kinds of deadstock fabric does Gia Bao buy?

We buy almost every kind of surplus fabric: full rolls, leftover rolls, remnants, short lengths, fabric scraps, defective fabric, out-of-season fabric and sample fabric. Materials include cotton, kate (poly-cotton), knit/jersey, khaki, denim, linen, nylon taffeta, taffeta, polyester, rayon and silk — as well as garment trims such as thread, buttons, zippers, belts and labels.

How is the price of deadstock fabric worked out?

The price depends on material, width, roll length, colour, age, defects and total quantity. Full rolls in easy-to-use colours and in good condition usually fetch more than remnants or stained fabric. Send us photos on Zalo for a same-day price range; the final price is agreed after we see the goods.

Do you buy small quantities?

Yes. Big or small, we take it. For small lots inside Ho Chi Minh City we still come to you; small lots in distant provinces can be combined into a shared trip to save transport costs for both sides.

How soon can you come to see the goods?

Inside Ho Chi Minh City we can usually be there the same day or the next morning. For nearby provinces such as Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Long An, we schedule a visit within 1–2 days depending on volume.

How do you pay?

Cash or bank transfer as soon as weighing is done and the price is agreed. We do not buy on credit or pay later.

Who pays for loading and transport?

Gia Bao provides the loading crew and trucks. This cost is already included in the price we quote you — there are no extra charges.

We buy surplus fabric rolls

I only have a few odd rolls left. Will Gia Bao buy them?

Yes. We take small lots of just a few rolls. If you are far away, you can add fabric remnants or trims at the same time to make the trip worthwhile, and the price will be better.

Are fabric rolls priced by the metre or by the kilo?

It depends. Thin or premium fabric in full rolls is usually priced by the metre; heavy fabrics such as khaki and denim, or mixed lots, are usually priced by the kilo. Both sides agree on the method before weighing or measuring.

Can I sell a roll that is already half cut?

Yes. Leftover rolls are what we buy most. The longer the roll and the cleaner the fabric face, the closer the price is to a full roll.

We buy fabric scraps

Will you collect if I only have a few bags of scraps?

Within Ho Chi Minh City we still collect small lots and can fit them into a nearby route. If possible, let them build up a little longer to make a full trip, and the price will be better.

Do fabric scraps need to be sorted by colour?

It is not required. But separating white, light-coloured and knit scraps helps the lot fetch a higher price than leaving them mixed.

What if the scraps are mixed with thread and pattern paper?

We still buy them, but the contaminants are deducted when weighing. It is best to pick out pattern paper, plastic and tape before bagging.

We buy fabric remnants

How long does a piece have to be to count as a remnant?

Usually it is a full-width piece from about half a metre to a few metres long. Anything shorter and not full width counts as scraps; longer pieces still on a core are treated as roll fabric.

I run a small fabric shop with just a few dozen remnants. Can I sell them?

Yes. Gia Bao buys small lots from fabric shops and tailors too. Send photos first so we can quote and arrange a time to collect.

Do you buy sample fabric of many types, a little of each?

Yes. This is something we see often from garment companies. If notes on the materials come with it, the quote will be more accurate.

We buy defective fabric

Can fabric returned by a buyer for shade variation be sold?

Yes. Fabric with an even shade difference across the whole roll can still be made into finished products for the domestic market. Gia Bao assesses it by the degree of variation and the base material.

Is defective fabric priced the same as scraps?

No. Defective fabric still in full rolls is assessed separately by fault type and density. Only badly damaged fabric that can no longer be sewn is priced as scraps.

What price does out-of-fashion fabric without faults get?

Out-of-season fabric usually still fetches a decent price, especially in full rolls with labels. Basic colours resell more easily than seasonal ones.

We buy fabric stock clearance

Can you clear a warehouse within two days?

Most warehouses in Ho Chi Minh City can be cleared in one to three days. Tell us your deadline from the start so we can arrange enough people and trucks.

Does Gia Bao also take poor-quality fabric and scraps in a clearance?

Yes. When we buy the whole lot, we take everything in the warehouse that is fabric or trims, without picking the good stock and leaving the rest behind.

Should I choose a whole-lot price or pricing by group?

If you are in a hurry and have nobody to sort the stock, a whole-lot price is the fastest. If the warehouse holds plenty of good full rolls and you have time, pricing by group usually gives a higher total.

We buy garment factory surplus

Does Gia Bao take fabric lots of dozens of tonnes?

Yes. Large lots are split into several loading stages on a schedule agreed with the company, and each stage is weighed and paid separately.

Should the company send a stock list first?

Ideally, yes. A list by fabric code helps us give a preliminary quote faster. If you do not have one yet, photos of the warehouse and a few representative bales are enough to start.

How can I be sure I am selling directly, not through a middleman?

The person who surveys, the person who agrees the price and the person who pays are all Gia Bao. You can call Mr. Tuan Tai directly on 0904 623 046 to confirm at any time.

We buy garment trims

Can part-used thread be sold?

Yes, but at a lower price than full cones. Gather part cones into a separate box so they are kept apart from sealed stock when we quote.

Are trims priced per piece or by the kilo?

It depends on the type. Loose buttons and odd trims are usually priced by the kilo; full cartons of thread and bagged zippers can be priced by the carton or by the roll. The method is agreed before counting.

Do you buy labels printed with a brand name?

We need to discuss this carefully first, because brand labels are usually not allowed to leave the factory. Size labels, plain hang tags and unbranded labels we buy as normal.
